Brett lives in Longmont, Colorado with his wife Sara and Woodford the dog. His passion for Chinese Medicine has been inspired by meditation, movement, and bodywork. Brett was introduced to acupuncture as a client, the result of his own personal struggle with illness. Western medicine was offering little help, and with no other options, he turned to acupuncture. On the recommendation of a friend, he found himself under the guidance of a skilled and caring practitioner. Not only did the experience bring balance back to his body and mind, but more importantly, it offered a shift in perspective. For the first time health and sickness were no longer at odds. Both could be welcomed as equals, a process of transformation, rather than something that needed to be fixed. From this experience came a well of empathy, and a curiosity to help others find their own way back to center.

Education

Brett received his undergraduate degree from Boston University where he studied Philosophy and Religion. At the time, this sparked an interest in meditation and mind- body awareness. He was drawn to bodywork as a way to put these theories into practice. Today, Brett has 25 years of accumulated experience with different modalities of massage, yoga, martial arts, movement therapy, and meditation. Brett graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC), completing a Masters in Science and Acupuncture. He is currently certified by the NCCAOM. His training included over 3200 hours of classroom instruction, and over 1600 hours of clinical study, treating hundreds of patients. During acupuncture school, Brett did specialty work at The CU Sports Medicine Center, Boulder County AIDS Project, and The Boulder County Homeless Shelter. He did advanced training in orthopedic medicine, Dr Tan Balance Method, and Japanese Five Element Acupuncture. Mindful awareness and a curiosity for the body continues to be the compass that inspires his work as an acupuncturist.
